Do you have a spare room or two? How about offering B&B to visitors over Brigadoon next year?
2018 is expected to be a bumper year for visitors to Bundanoon for the 41st Bundanoon Highland Gathering.
Accommodation has always been a limiting factor in encouraging visitors to extend their time and explore the village, Morton Park and other areas of the Southern Highlands. Most hotels and guest house are booked months in advance and thus the trip to the Southern Highlands tends to be a one day visit for most attendees.
To encourage more visitors to stay for a couple of days, the committee of ‘Brigadoon’ has been working with Destination Southern Highlands to launch Home Hosting. This will be a free service provided by Brigadoon.
Home Hosting is a service where visitors are accommodated over the weekend of the Gathering 6 & 7 April, provided with a room and continental breakfast and pay $140 per person for two nights (minimum) in return for the privilege.
The plan has been vetted by the Shire Council and team members of Destination Southern Highlands will visit properties being offered to set their seal of approval for hosting. A coordinator will then arrange the matching of visitors to the range of accommodation offered. Public Liability insurance is a necessary requirement of the host.
The Bundanoon Highland Gathering will be responsible for marketing this initiative with no charge to the host.
